Biography

Gabriel Martz is an associate at MacKay Boyar and is developing a diverse practice representing clients in criminal, civil, and public law litigation.

Before joining MacKay Boyar, Gabriel clerked for Justices Newbury, DeWitt-Van Oosten, and Warren at the Court of Appeal for British Columbia.

Gabriel obtained his law degree from the University of Victoria in 2024, where he was recognized for academic excellence and his skills as an advocate. He received the John McAlpine Prize in Civil Liberties and Human Rights and the Anne Cadby Memorial Scholarship for class work on the Charter and constitutional law. Gabriel also received a Dickson medal for distinguished oral advocacy and the McCarthy Tetrault Scholarship in Memory of John Finlay for his performance in the Gale Moot.

During law school, Gabriel gained experience working with a leading national firm on complex commercial litigation files, and with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada on criminal matters.

Before law school, Gabriel received a
and worked for non-profits and the BC Public Service in the pursuit of minority rights advocacy.
