Biography

Emma Seckel joins MacKay Boyar as an articling student after summering with the firm in 2020. Emma received her JD from the University of British Columbia with a specialisation in Law and Social Justice. She graduated in the top of her class and as the recipient of numerous academic awards including the Borden Ladner Gervais Professional Excellence Award, and the Ruth Pinkus Memorial Award for commitment to civil rights, as well as course prizes in Torts and Contracts. 

While at UBC, Emma also participated in the UBC Innocence Project as a student clinician; volunteered with Lawyers’ Rights Watch Canada through Pro Bono Students Canada; and served as an Associate Editor for the UBC Law Review. 

Before attending law school, Emma received her Master of Arts (Honours), First Class, in English from the University of St Andrews.
